The creation of “Galaxy” began with selecting the perfect walnut base. Its strength, dimensional stability, and pronounced grain made it the ideal foundation for this cosmic journey. Every plank was carefully examined for grain direction, texture variance, and resistance to moisture and pressure to ensure a precise, stable starting point.

Marquetry pieces were then chosen individually:
From processed ebony, with its deep, weighty black like the night sky, to Zersh with warm, red tones, Padauk with its fiery red and copper streaks, and Tulip and Poplar with soft green and earthy shades. Each piece, with its natural color and luster, represents light, stars, and orbital motion—every hue a spark of light born in the heart of darkness.

Each piece was cut slowly and delicately to preserve the natural grain and brilliance. During assembly, pieces were repeatedly repositioned to achieve perfect visual balance between light and dark, akin to the gravitational equilibrium in galaxies. No component was placed without trial and careful polishing, resulting in a unified, seamless surface—not just a tray, but the birth of a complete universe.
