Nowruz, the festival of renewal, has for over a thousand years served as a bridge between past and future in Iranian culture, always accompanied by deep symbolism.

Haft-Sin is inspired by this age-old tradition—a labor of love aiming to translate centuries-old concepts from the Iranian table into living, enduring wood art.

The initial concept of this piece is to represent human values through natural elements. The choice of wood as the primary material was deliberate, as wood, like Nowruz itself, carries within it the cycle of life and rebirth. Each grain tells a story of time, growth, and resilience.

The base wood is walnut, chosen for its structural strength, appropriate density, and rich color, providing a powerful foundation for the marquetry woods. The marquetry woods were selected according to their meaning, natural color, and texture to create a lively, varied palette, guiding the viewer’s gaze from light to depth.

Each wooden piece underwent multiple stages of processing, cutting, and refinement before placement. In marquetry, precision down to a tenth of a millimeter is crucial; even the smallest error can disrupt visual harmony. Pieces were repeatedly fitted and adjusted to ensure seamless connections.

The final finish uses natural oils, allowing the wood to breathe, remain stable against humidity changes, and preserve the true texture and color—details that can only be appreciated through close touch and careful observation.

Haft-Sin is not made solely for Nowruz; it is meant to stay in homes year-round, reminding us of enduring values and cultural roots. A piece that can remain on a wall or table throughout the year, reflecting this simple truth: renewal is a daily choice.
