Sepehr is not just a marquetry piece; it embodies a moment of light—the instant when night turns into dawn and the world is reborn. The idea for this piece was born from observing the gentle sunrise at the horizon, a light that shines quietly every day, awakening hope.
The creation process begins with careful wood selection. The base wood was chosen for its natural grain, which flows like a gentle wave, following the movement of light. Each marquetry piece is individually selected so that colors and grains recreate the dynamic feel of light spreading across space. The layout mimics light radiating from the center outward, just like the scattering of dawn light.
Throughout the assembly, pieces were moved repeatedly to ensure the viewer’s eye flows naturally from the center outward—a guided visual movement, achieved through a deep understanding of color, wood properties, and the artist’s patience.
The final oil finish not only protects the surface but also gives it a vibrant, luminous quality that changes subtly with the surrounding light, as if morning sunlight dances on the wood. Each cut was executed with delicate tools at a slow pace to preserve the wood fibers, ensuring a seamless, flawless surface.
